Week 8 Sept 23-27, 2024

If your children are involved in sports the athletic website is where all information is posted. Please check the weekly website post which is also updated and included in every Friday parent bulletin to stay up to date with sport happenings at ISM.

All weekday and weekend fixtures are posted on the game schedule so check the game schedule via the parent portal carefully as events/times can change on short notice. Coaches will advise players at training sessions of upcoming matches and what time to report on game days.

Sept 21 was race #2 XC at Faith. Well done to all our MS/HS runners who took part. See the RESULTS at this link for both MS and HS races. This Saturday Brent will host race #3 and Fri Oct 4th ISM will host the final race of the season, our annual twilight XC race here on campus.

Good luck this weekend to our HS volleyball teams who will be taking part in the Faith Academy Dan Landry Tournament. We wish our JV & Varsity teams all the best on Saturday. Rd 2 of the MS boys C div soccer festival takes places Saturday at San Beda Mendiola. Good luck to our C1 and C2 teams.

For HS S1 varsity athletes/parents see below the upcoming timeline for S1 IASAS

-Final rosters from coaches are due to ATAC Mon Sept 30th and will be announced to teams at training

-Parent information letter/digital permission form will be sent Tues Oct 1st (deadline for digital form Thur Oct 3rd)

-All selected teams members passports must be submitted to Pam at Athletics office between Oct 1-3

-Oct 9 S1 HS send off assembly

-Oct 14 all S1 IASAS travel teams have a mandatory lunchtime meeting at LT for final reminders with Mr. Pekin & Mr Birchenall.

-Oct 16 depart for Taipei (VB/XC) and Bangkok (Soccer)

-Oct 17-19 S1 IASAS

-Oct 20 Return to Manila

S2 tryouts schedule timeline-

-For HS (Basketball, Swimming, Tennis, Girls Touch and Boys Rugby)

Oct 16-18 after school while IASAS teams are away.

Oct 29 11:45am - 1:15pm and Oct 30 6:30am - 8am. Final team rosters will be announced Oct 30th and S2 training will begin the week of Nov 4.

*S1 IASAS STUDENTS WHO MISS THE OCT 16-18 SESSIONS MUST TRYOUT ON THE OCT 29 & 30 SESSIONS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR TEAM SELECTION.

*HS students must register via the link on the registration/tryouts page on the athletic website.

Nov 4, 5 and 6 from 3:10pm - 4:30pm.

S2 training schedule will be followed from Thursday Nov 7

Well done to all HS teams who took part in the invitational weekends away in Bangkok/Taipei and here at home in Manila. A HUGE thanks to all the host families. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Girls and Boys XCountry both placed 4th in Thailand. See RACE RESULTS HERE. An excellent performance by our XC runners and well done to Izzy Ariall who placed 9th and was a top ten female runner.

Girls soccer had one win and two losses in Taipei. See results tab on the game schedule for match results for MNL boys soccer and Volleyball invitationals.

This coming weekend our HS varsity girls soccer team and cross country travel to TAS and ISB for their invitational preparation events. Here at ISM we are hosting the boys soccer and Volleyball invitationals with ISB and TAS teams flying in. See schedules below. Come out to cheer on our Bearcats next Friday after school and Saturday for some high level sporting action. Hosting letters have been sent to host parents for this coming weekend. Thanks to all that came out to support our FNL last Friday. It was a great night of soccer and volleyball action despite the delayed start due to lightning for the soccer matches. Well done to all teams and to Bearcat council for their support at the event.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable 4 day weekend. We are back at it this week and look forward to hosting HS teams from Brent and Faith for our S1 FNL for soccer and volleyball. See the flyer below. Matches begin from 4:15pm. For volleyball JV games will be in the MS gym and Varsity teams will play in the HS gym. On Saturday the first cross country race of the season will take place at Faith Academy. MS runners will run a 3.2km course and HS will race a 5km course. Good luck to all runners and coaches.

I hope our new ISM students and families and all returning Bearcats had a great first week of school. To all the HS and MS students that took part in S1 sports tryouts well done. UPDATE on summer projects-

-our new tennis court surface is close to being finished and will be ready for use by Wednesday this coming week. The project was slightly delayed due to materials arriving from overseas and the recent typhoon.

-our new multi-sport facility built on top of the ES gym is on track for completion and turnover in mid-late October.

A very warm welcome to new ISM students and families and to all returning Bearcats! We are very excited for the year ahead in sports. We have the added benefit this year to have the Paris Olympics to watch this week and motivate our students as they begin their school year.

On behalf of the athletics office staff and our coaches we hope you have a great experience at ISManila and smooth start to the SY. We have dedicated coaches eager to support the athletic development of our Bearcats within the scope of our school based athletics program. We look forward to seeing the students participating in our athletics and activities programs starting with season 1 tryouts this week for HS and MS students for Volleyball, Cross Country XC and Soccer.

-a new access ramp was built to provide access from the HS car park to the MS field bleacher.

-a new shelter and rubberized pad was installed at the ES field by gate 2

-new backboards installed at the covered court

-new bleacher steps at the HS field bleachers and new overhead fans at the swimming pool upperdeck bleacher

-our new tennis courts surface is still being completed as it was slightly delayed due to materials arrival from overseas and the recent typhoon

A big thanks to all the swimmers and parents who attended last Tuesday's Sailfish end of year awards banquet at the ES gym. This event was well attended and was our year ending event for our Sailfish program. On behalf of all administration at ISM thank you to all Sailfish swimmers, coaches and parents for your dedication to the swimming program this year and we hope to see returning Sailfish swimmers and interested new swimmers back in the pool in August.

There will not be any after school athletics or activities in this final week of school June 3-6. Please arrange departure from campus asap each day next week. Thursday June 6 is a 12 noon early release day for the final day of classes this SY.

Have a great summer break, farewell to our departing Bearcats and stay safe, fit and healthy over the break. We shall welcome and see all returning Bearcats back in early August ready for another exciting year at ISM. Week 38 May 27-31, 2024

Sailfish swim squads will have their last day of training Tuesday May 28th and that evening will be the Sailfish end of year awards banquet at the ES gym. This will bring our year ending event for our Sailfish program and bring a close to our swim program for this SY. On behalf of all administration at isM thank you to all Sailfish swimmers and parents for your dedication to the swimming program this year and we hope to see returning Bearcats back in the pool in August.

Saturday community tennis has now concluded and will begin again in September. Check the community tennis page for updates when the new SY begins for dates and booking information.

Well done ad thanks to Srihaan and Coach Gavin for coordinating the final chess event of the SY the ISM Chess EOY tournament. Well done to all the registered players who took part last Saturday.

Well done and congratulations to all participants who took part in the ISM Goodwill Gymnastics meet. This event was a great success. Thanks to all gymnasts, parents, coaching staff and support staff who made the event possible. A results summary will be posted to the gymnastics page on our website this week.

This past weekend a group of dedicated MS girls touch players traveled to Jakarta to compete in the annual MS Touch Invitational. This event has made a comeback after the pandemic and is an event we previously attended annually in Jakarta. Our team did very well and placed 3rd overall! Congratulations to all players and our coaching staff who took care of the team during the trip. Hopefully this gives the girls great motivation for Touch next SY. SEE FLYER & PHOTOS BELOW

Another big returnee event coming up this coming weekend May 18th is the ISM Goodwill Gymnastics Competition. Our marquee gymnastics event of the school year is making a return after the pandemic and this is sure to be a highlight event for our gymnasts and coaches. Approximately 150 gymnasts will compete. Our MS gym will be the venue for this event and teams will prepare on Friday afternoon with an open warm up session and then compete in the various levels of competition for both girls and boys apparatus events on Saturday. Awarding ceremonies after each level session is completed will take place in the ES gym.

Week 35 May 6-10 2024

This weekend coming May 11 we have the Sailfish Aquathon. The registration form with course description information is open and available at the Sailfish website. Sailfish swim squads will have their last day of training on Tuesday May 28th and that evening will be the Sailfish end of year awards banquet at the ES gym.

This weekend from Friday to Sunday May 10-12 a group of dedicated MS girls touch players will travel to Jakarta to compete in the annual MS Touch Invitational. This event is making a comeback after the pandemic and is an event we previously attended annually each year in Jakarta. Our team has been training hard twice per week under the guidance of Coach Fiebig and Coach Rara. We wish the team all the best as they prepare for this event. This girls will have a practice game vs the JV Touch team Tuesday May 7th 4:30pm at the MS field to get ready for the weekend tournament.

This past weekend we held our Sailfish Spring swim meet which was conducted over two days, Saturday April 27 (8am-4:45pm) and on Sunday April 28 (8:30am until 1pm). A big thanks to all the Sailfish swimmers, coaching staff and meet officials for your help in ensuring we had a successful meet this weekend. Results are available HERE and on the Sailfish website.

Camp dates are -Thurs May 30th 3-6pm, Fri May 31st 3-6pm and Sat June 1st 8-3pm at the MS/HS gyms.

This camp will be a great opportunity for all keen HS basketball players at ISM to raise your game to the next level. 13 hours of high quality basketball instruction. Last Thursday evening 250 plus athletes, coaches and parents celebrated at the S3 HS sports awarding ceremony. Thank you to all those who attended our final awards celebration for this school year and well done to all the JV/Varsity team MVP award winners. Mr Birchenall posted the MVP award winners in his Friday bulletin HS post.
