S1 SOCCER RIFA LEAGUE program information

MS Rifa Festival Soccer- AUG TO MID OCTOBER. *Rizal Football League Girls 7 a side cumulative festival competition.

MS Rifa League Soccer- AUG TO MID OCTOBER. * Rizal Football League Boys 9 and 11 a side league competition

Parents please note*- For Soccer Gr 8 students born 2011 are too old to play in the MS Rifa competition. Any Gr. 8's born '11 must try out for the HS Boys Aspirants or HS Girls JV Soccer teams. HS soccer tryouts for these teams are first week of Aug 2025. Students should attend the HS tryouts.

Our goal is to select MS/HS soccer players with competition playing experience to our competitive team program. Considerations taken into account in team selection are; the number of teams we are allowed to enter into the league, the number of players allowed on each team (roster size), playing ability, readiness for competition and team balance such that all teams will have an opportunity to enjoy the full RIFA 9 and 11 a side or the MS girls festival 7 a side competition. Parents/children need to be aware of the opportunity to develop leadership skills and make new friendships by playing in ISM teams with children they may not normally play with. We do not select teams based on friendship groups or if children play together in club teams outside of school.

As students move through our MS program more emphasis is placed on selection of skill based teams. For example, our A1 MS boys 11 a side team is our strongest boys team, followed by A2 team.

For the MS 9 a side league the C1, C2  teams this year play in a new league format competition on designated Saturdays at either ISM, Ateneo, Xavier or CSA.

For the MS 7 a side girls festival competition the girls gold and green teams play in the festival format competition on designated Saturday afternoons at at ISM

ISM enters teams to experience all that a competitive environment offers (winning, losing, team camaraderie, playing with sportsmanship etc). Coaches will endeavour to share playing time among the squad of team members on festival days but there is no guarantee that all players will get the same amount of playing time. If your child has not experienced a competitive environment previously and you are unsure about their readiness it may be best to sign up for the MS Activities recreational soccer program or look to a club team outside of school to build skills and confidence without any competitive pressure as a first step.

MS 7 & 9 a side RIFA LEAGUEs

MS Girls 7 aside RIFA Festival Teams- MS girls soccer teams play in the RIFA (Rizal Football Association) League and ISM enters the teams under the age guidelines set by the RIFA League during the season from August to mid October. All MS girls festivals are generally held at ISM and start at 1pm (arrive by 12:30pm). Dates/venues/times can be found on the ATAC game schedule. Match results in each of the festivals count toward a cumulative win/loss record and thus whether teams advance to the finals in October. The festivals are busy and full of action, please ensure your child has a towel, water bottle and sun screen with them on the day.

*All MS girls festivals are generally held at ISM and start at 1pm (arrive by 12:30pm)

*Note ISM does not provide busing to nearby away venues like CSA. Parents are responsible for drop-off/pick up festival days.

MS Girls Soccer Teams:  Grade 5-8 (born '12-'15) are able to play in the RIFA Cumulative 7 a side festivals.  (Player roster is up to a max of 15 girls with 15 players able to play in any match, rolling subs allowed)

ATAC/Athletics GAME SCHEDULE: (access to game schedule information) The Athletics game schedule which is updated regularly by Rhyss Nora (Athletics Coordinator) gives the most up to date information on where/when and who our Bearcat teams will be playing throughout the school year. Access to the game schedule is via the ISM parent portal. Use the ISM parent SSO (single sign on) to access the parent portal and look for the Athletics Game Schedule icon. Don’t forget to refresh the page each time it opens to get the most current schedule.

*We do not offer year round training for seasonal sports teams as our fields and gyms are needed midweek/weekends to service the needs of the entire offering of sports required across the entire school year. Our facilities are used every afternoon and almost all Saturdays for training sessions and local league matches in order to prepare our teams for domestic and HS IASAS competition. Equity for all teams in our season based program is imperative such that one sport does not have extended or more access than others. Each year we get requests for competitive soccer teams to play all year however this cannot be offered as outdoor field space is required for our S2 and S3 sports programs and there is not the local soccer league infrastructure for a festivals style format similar to what happens in S1. For those that seek year round soccer it can be accessed via club teams outside of school or once the S1 Rifa League concludes via our ES/MS recreational soccer in our activities program.

RAINY SEASON/EXTREME WEATHER EVENTS- During our ES soccer season from Aug-Oct we we are in the rainy season. If you are unsure if an event will be held due to extreme weather please check…Extreme weather cancellation procedures. During after school training sessions training will continue if it is raining. We will cancel or suspend sessions for lightning or very heavy rain if the fields become unsafe to play.
