TENNIS

MS/HS rosters will be posted under team sections below after tryouts week in late Oct/early November. HS and MS students who make teams please ensure you attend training every Wed/Fri

The ISM Tennis program runs during 2nd second season from mid October through early February.

Our teams play in the ISTA League (Inter Schools Tennis Association) which conducts age group divisional round robin tournaments.

Teams for 2024-25 are confirmed in late October/early November after tryouts. Typically we enter the following teams- 2 or 3 girls teams from gr.5-8 in Div 1/2 Junior High/GS divisions. We enter 4 boys teams- 2 x gr. 5/6 teams in Div 2 GS (grade school) section and 2 teams in Div 1 Jnr High division. We enter 1 team for each gender in the HS Div 2 Senior High division and 1 team each gender in the Div 1 Senior High division for ISTA. This is a total of 10/11 teams in the local ISTA league competition.

Each team is generally made up of 6 players selected at the conclusion of the tryouts week at the start of the season. All players intending to tryout for team selection are required to attend tryouts. If you are unable to attend tryouts for any reason please inform the coaches so this can be taken into account when teams are finalized.

2024-25 Tennis Season: Match schedules are coordinated by the ISTA league convener and once sent to all schools they are posted on the athletics game schedule page. The game schedule page (our one stop shop) can be accessed via the parent portal. Check the game schedule regularly as dates can change at short notice. Our tennis coaches will advise players at training ahead of time of the match schedule. Not all players will be selected to play in all matches.

Information for players/parents- Please  attend all training sessions and matches, if you cannot make a session or match please tell your coach ahead of time or email atac@ismanila.org to advise if your son/daughter is unable to play. PLEASE check the game schedule regularly in the tennis season to stay updated with match fixtures.

All MS & some HS ISTA League matches are played at our ISM roof top courts. Most HS matches will be played at CSA (Colegio San Augustin) in Dasmarinas Village, Makati.

Match day format: All matches are played as a best of 5 match with each set being a pro set to first to 8 games. If a set is tied 7-7 a 7pt tie breaker is played to determine the winner. Matches must be played in the following order Singles 1, Singles 2, Singles 3, Doubles 1 and Doubles 2. All players must arrive 20 minutes prior to scheduled match start time (Matches begin at 8am, 11AM and 1PM)

ISTA League match playing dates for 24-25: Teams may be drawn to play on any Saturdays from mid November until early February.

Our goal as coaches is to develop match play skills and of course work on tennis fundamentals at training each week.
